BlogMaker quietly launched back in April 2021, then named "blogstatic".

Since then it has grown by leaps and bounds, but one thing I personally struggled with this entire time was the price point. It never had to do with me wanting to maximize profits, but more so how do I price it so it makes sense for the customer, and in return, helps me keep running it sustainably without stress.

The initial purpose

BlogMaker's initial purpose and why it exists was to make writing and publishing content online a no-brainer and accesible to all. Which makes even more sense today, as we're flooded with AI-generated content and people are craving original work written from genuine human experience.

There's currently no solution out there like BlogMaker.

Most are either too expensive and bloated (WordPress, Ghost), or free but where you don't own the content (Substack, Medium). Or completely free (Blogger) but useless to the core.

BlogMaker is in a very special spot and I want to completely lean into that: Keep offering an incredible tool at a no–brainer pricing point that literally anyone can use, while we keep running a self-sustaining business that gives back to the customers it serves.

Going back to the roots

With all that, I've decided to go back to our very first pricing of $39/year, and give way more than before: 5 blogs within that price, and all the features.

Why?

Because I want to further emphasize what BlogMaker has always meant to its customers, the community that makes it possible. Hence, labeling it as a true Community Driven Business.

Can we charge more?

Yes. And we have. But only a specific audience can afford those price points, and those price points shun BlogMaker's purpose and full potential.

My mission is for BlogMaker to be the go-to tool for anyone just starting out, or a business owner starting a content marketing blog, or an e-commerce store talking about their products, or a professor publishing their studies, or a scientist sharing their latest discoveries, or a mom just kicking off her business empire.

How can you help?

Currently there around 400 paying customers with an active subscription.

The $39/year pricing will only make sense if at least around 3000 people or more worldwide pay for a yearly subscription. And there's no way we can reach those numbers with a $39/year budget per customer.

And this is where your help comes into play.

  • Pay for a BlogMaker subscription
  • Help us spread the word wide and far:
    • Post on X or BlueSkye
    • Share on Facebook or LinkedIn
    • Recommend it to your friends via word of mouth
  • Leave a review on Capterra
  • Gift it to your friends
  • Make a YouTube video
  • Talk about it on your podcast

What will I do as a founder

I will keep promoting BlogMaker far and wide in every available channel, continue listening to our customers as I always have and keep on improving the product, keep up with the changing times, and work towards creating partnerships with various outlets that car further help with making BlogMaker reach +3000 paying customers worldwide.

Existing customers

All existing $49/year plans or more will be rolled into this new subscription plan. Blogs on the legacy $19/year plan can upgrade with a prorated amount (only the remainder of the billing cycle).

One last thing

BlogMaker isn’t backed by investors. It’s backed by the people who use it.

There’s no ad budget. No tricks. No hidden agenda.

Just one honest product. One price. One mission: To make blogging accessible to all.

If that speaks to you, thank you for being part of it.

Let’s keep it independent.

Let’s keep it going.
